October 7th Wine Tasting - What is on the menu!

Wines and Food Pairings

Prosecco Upon Arrival

Crisp green apple and pear on the nose, with a fine, persistent mousse. Bright acidity refreshes the palate — a lively welcome to the tasting.

1. Pinot Grigio 2024 DOC – Duca Catemario (Friuli)

Food pairing: Venetian Cicchetti

Pale straw in colour with delicate aromas of white peach, citrus blossom, and almond. Light‑bodied and zesty, with lemon zest, green apple, and a whisper of minerality. The cicchetti — small bites of seafood, cured meats, and marinated vegetables — echo the wine’s freshness while adding savoury depth.

2. Greco di Tufo 2024 DOCG – Fattoria Pagano (Campania)

Food pairing: Caprese salad with bufala mozzarella, tomatoes, balsamic reduction

Brilliant gold with green highlights. Aromas of pear, apricot, and almond skin, underpinned by stony minerality. Medium‑bodied with vibrant acidity, carrying ripe stone fruit and citrus peel. Creamy mozzarella softens the edges, while tomato and balsamic lift the bright, saline finish.

3. Montepulciano d’Abruzzo 2022 DOC – Cantina Zaccagnini (Abruzzo)

Food pairing: Arrosticini (grilled lamb skewers)

Deep ruby with purple hues. Aromas of black cherry, plum, and dried herbs. Medium‑plus body with supple tannins and flavours of dark berries, licorice, and a touch of spice. The charred, savoury lamb skewers amplify earthy undertones and bring out the wine’s juicy core.

4. Primitivo Frisino 2022 IGP – Azienda Francesco Frisino (Puglia)

Food pairing: Orecchiette with rapini and sausage

Inky ruby with aromas of ripe blackberry, fig, and sweet spice. Plush and full‑bodied, with velvety tannins and a warming finish. Rapini’s bitterness cuts through the richness, while the sausage mirrors its savoury depth.

5. Cirò Etefe 2021 DOC – Brigante Vigneti (Calabria)

Food pairing: Sausage and lamb with potatoes

Pale ruby, almost translucent, recalling Pinot Noir. Aromas of red cherry, wild strawberry, dried herbs, and rose petal. Light to medium‑bodied with silky tannins and bright acidity, offering tart red berries, pomegranate, and subtle earthy spice. The rustic pairing grounds the wine’s elegance without overpowering it.

6. Aglianico del Vulture 2020 DOC – Casa Vinicola D’Angelo (Basilicata)

Food pairing: Sausage and lamb with potatoes

Opaque garnet with aromas of blackberry, tobacco, and volcanic earth. Full‑bodied with gripping tannins and layers of dark fruit, cocoa, and smoke. The hearty pairing matches the wine’s intensity, while potatoes provide an earthy backdrop that lets the structure shine.

7. Zibibbo di Pantelleria 2023 DOC – Pellegrino (Sicily)

Food pairing: Cannoli

Golden amber with heady aromas of orange blossom, honey, and candied citrus peel. Lusciously sweet yet balanced by fresh acidity, with flavours of dried apricot, fig, and almond. The creamy ricotta and crisp shell of the cannoli create a decadent finale, echoing the wine’s floral and nutty notes.
